Summary: The Senior CAD Designer/Mechanical Engineer (CDME) is responsible for designing, engineering and testing custom-fabricated, display-related products. The key focus of this position is to create design drawings utilizing SolidWorks CAD Software for pre-sale (proposal) and post-sale (shop fabrication & installation) operations. Pre-sale drawings include 3D color renderings and animations. Post-sale CAD work includes shop drawings with BOMs and fabrication details (weldment call-outs, sheet metal part layouts and structural component cut lists, etc.). Installation drawings feature step-by-step assembly details (how sub-assemblies fit together, etc.) and may include product photos if/as necessary. This position also requires the verification of all final design documentation and hands-on testing of new designs in the shop before paint, packaging & QC procedure reviews. Duties: Use CAD Design tools and follow company design protocol to design & engineer Products. Review Project Requirements & Specifications to ensure designs meet customer expectations. Create conceptual design sales drawings & detailed, production-ready shop drawings with BOMs. Research AV components, electro-mechanics, equipment cooling systems and fabrication materials. Develop prototype products, work with Production to fabricate, test & document results. Perform CAD simulation structural analyses, BTU heat dissipation analyses and summarize findings. Execute and document design changes as required. Create drawings in a timely manner to meet scheduling requirements. Occasionally visit customer facilities for site surveys & install supervision. Keep Management informed of any observed issues.Accountabilities: Design CAD Design & CAD Renderings. Engineering Conversion of CAD Designs into Fabrication Shop Drawings (with BOMs, cut lists, etc.). Prototype Testing Testing of New Designs, Products and Technologies. Organization Fast Drawing Production, Autonomous & Efficient Time Management and Effective Interaction/Communication with other departments to achieve company objectives.Qualifications: Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the mechanical design of custom sheet metal & tubular steel products in a manufacturing environment. A minimum of five (5) years of experience using SolidWorks CAD Software to produce welded steel and fabricated sheet metal components and products. A BSME Degree is preferred. A proven track record of design creativity, problem solving skills and an inherent willingness to take the initiative in solving design challenges is key. Strong analytical and problem solving skills is imperative. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be willing and able to work well with others.
