Whatever your passion - parts, products, design or project scope - you can find it at Garmin. We are looking for a full-time Senior Design Engineer for our Santa Barbara California area office. Essential functions include: Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews, providing comments on electrical design aspects and other engineering areas Evaluate new technologies as they apply to existing functions Participate in project leadership and/or program planning including providing technical input to product development plans and concept documents Make substantial contributions toward determination of project goal/objective feasibility Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers Contribute to advanced technical research on new technologies Independently determine general approaches and specific solutions to technical problems Offer process improvement suggestions and authors new procedures as appropriate Direct and coordinate manufacture of prototypes Assist with the development of integrated circuit (IC) packaging and test equipment, both manual and automated Assist with selection and creation of custom equipment needed in the development of ICs Assist with the development of data collection and analysis to improving device yield and manufacturing methodology Assist with development and management of packaged IC qualification plans Qualified candidates possess a Master of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering AND a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience OR Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other requirements include: Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Must demonstrate proficiency with a complicated schematic and PCB design consisting of one or more PCB's Broad technical knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Electrical Engineering (e.g., analog, digital, RF, and/or DSP) Highly preferred experience: Analog circuit design including low noise and high precision electronics IC packaging and qualification testing and related experience Automatic and Manual Test Equipment Design Automation of assembly process, calibration and data collection Sensor testing and characterization Data analysis for the purposes of improving device yield, calibration methods and test processes Fast prototyping of electronics as needed for testing new prototypes or new sensor features as needed Control theory understanding and application Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
